Mr. Berman has over 34 years of legal and corporate development experience and is a director and a co-founder of Tocagen. Prior to that he was an Executive Vice President, Director and co-founder of Kintera, Inc., where he served for seven years. Prior to co-founding Kintera, Mr. Berman was Vice President of Corporate Development of INTERVU Inc., where he oversaw strategic alliances and financings. Mr. Berman was a law partner of Fred Adler, a prominent New York City venture capitalist, and worked with him for over eight years. Mr. Berman has represented many biotechnology and technology companies, venture capitalists and underwriters, including Bear Stearns, Chase Manhattan Bank (now JP Morgan Chase), Chrysler Capital, Drexel Burnham, Montgomery Securities, Prudential Securities, Oppenheimer & Co. and TA Associates, in numerous public and private equity financings. Mr. Berman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science degree from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He also holds a General Course Certificate from the London School of Economics and received his Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School. Mr. Berman was a Traphagen Distinguished Alumni Speaker at Harvard Law School.
